I read this book years ago when in my teens and it fired my imagination. One of the climaxes in the book involve the falling out of two of the main characters John Amalfi, the citiies of New York, New York and the city manager, Mark Hazelton.

I found this book in the series to be much better than the first.
He had hoped for a clear-cut, yes-or-no answer, but what he had gotten stood squarely in the middle. Given that it’s 50s SF, there are of course some jarring mispredictions. Between and his death from lung cancer inBlish became the first author to write short story collections based upon the classic TV series Star Trek. But then of course there would be no ‘suspense’.
