Examples generally consist of complete programs of the type one is likely to encounter in daily use of the language, with an emphasis on system programming. This book is a fascinating riychie and has lingjaggio discussions about the implementations of classic UNIX commands and other systems programming topics.
It is rarely the case mernighan a developer looks into the code for these if she’s not a C developer herself. This book is a good exercise in understanding which considerations go into building such important programs that we all use, and which have to withstand all kinds of weird setups and exceptional situations.
RIP Ritchie and long live Kernigan! Beaten only by the even more minimalist Coral in my ‘umble opinion. What language are most libraries on most operating systems written in if not assembler?
