I literally gasped out loud in several places, hardly able to believe that Bridget had just said or done that evil, evil, thing. Particularly those who take after the title character, anything that gets girls like her to think about the consequences of their actions must be worth picking up!

And, at the very least, I wanted her to wake up in the hospital after her accident, and picking up where she left off. Young adult fiction has long been populated with mean girls — vicious, boyfriend-stealing tarts who underdress, over-apply makeup and, generally, terrorize those whose daddies didn’t buy them BMWs for their 16th birthdays.

Popular, wanted by the boys and feared or adored by the girls, she barely even notices the trail of destruction she leaves behind her as friends, teachers and even her stepmother end up being hurt by her actions.
However, I had some problems with the book. I neve From shutupimreading. No paigr thoughts about berating her best friend. Mein Stern war gesunken. Here Lies Bridget was a very fast read with a really great concept.

So when Bridget is in a car accident, and ends up in limbo, she’s sent into the shoes of those she’s wronged to see the effect she’s had on them. Then came the decision. Bridget was the girl we can’t even “love to hate” because we simply refuse to put the word “love” in the same sentence as “Bridget”.
They all just annoyed me, they were either too good or too bitchy. My favorite read in a long time, bravo! How anyone can be that blatantly mean blows my mind. She is constantly late to her classes, she tries to cheat her way through just about everything, and she treats her stepmom horribly. I liked this for what it is as I am not it’s demographic. Then, in between moments of life and death, she has to relive the events of the past couple of days through other people’s eyes.

I did not mind the predictable story, though, because where this book really shines is in the storytelling. An impressive debut for Paige Harbison.
Please don’t be put off by her attitude, I promise you that Paige Harbison is only crafting that mean girl to show you how much people can learn about themselves. As with “A Christmas Carol,” it’s only through forced empathy that she truly sees the effects of her actions. I haven’t hete this hard during the ending of a book in a long time.

The only thing lie bothered me was that I thought she got out of her problems way too easy towards the end, I wish she would’ve had a bit more difficulty trying to redeem herself and really working hard for it, instead everything just resolved way too fast.

Though I really didn’t want to, I started to want the best outcome for Bridget. There’s some mild swearing and teen drinking.
