Having read the tale years later, it’s not as terrifying or gut-wrenching as I remembered; I guess I’m a little jaded n I had remembered liking this story back when I first heard it in my middle school English class. I’m convinced the Red Death is the Black Mascca.

Please review your cart. I get that the story wants to convey the message that you can’t escape death, but it all felt just a little too weak for alkan and didn’t really leave an impression. The final line of the story sums up, “And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all”.

I read this right before I read Bethany Griffin’s Masque of Red Death she wrote her story based on this classic, to get an idea of where she was coming from.

The recording was great, the story was really gripping and then, I thought Edgar Allan Poe was a brilliant author of gothic horror, a little sick and twisted sometimes but still pretty awesome.
My teacher brought vinyl records of it I guess they were predecessors of books on tape. The last room is decorated in black and is illuminated by a scarlet light, “a deep blood color” cast from its morgii glass windows. Allan would rear Poe to be a businessman and a Virginia gentleman, but Poe had dreams of being a writer in emulation of his childhood hero the British poet Lord Byron.

And the story was simply too short for me to get into it properly. Prospero dies after confronting this stranger, whose “costume” proves to contain nothing tangible inside it; the guests also die in turn. In the midst of their revelry, a mysterious figure disguised as a Red Death victim enters and makes his way through each of the rooms. In this story I felt that the build-up of the story took two long and it didn’t really create a creepy atmosphere like in for example “The Black Cat”.
