The ability to shape our own lives, to some extent vah least, is a power. Sometimes people question the fact that my rating does not seem to be consistent with my comments about a book.

A fireworks show of well-dressed reflections with the purpose of hiding the characters’ immature behaviour under a gloss of elegance and sophistication. The fact is, lifhtheid is a ridiculous amount of posing in this novel, first of all by hef author himself: Or take the titular “unbearable lightness of being” itself: We have sucked their udders like leeches.

Metaphors are not to be trifled with. Thus, this novel represents a series of false starts, attempts by Kundera to communicate something that each beginning fails to do, requiring him to switch directions and try once more, never entirely successfully. Tomas too had written an article critical of Communism, an article that now in the narrative comes back to haunt him as he is pressured to repudiate his former views. Each Part contains a title involving a dichotomy; Tomas continually attempts to dichotomize sex and love, for example. A question with no answer is a barrier that cannot be breached.
