The whole book i asked myself what the point was but it’s not discovered until the very end. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. It had come for her. Plus, the character is smart, if a little cynical at first. What could she do for a unicorn? This is also a book that I like to point to when someone’s looking for a strong female character who doesn’t have to be overly masculine in order to show she’s strong cough Alanna.

This book has a wonderfully chilling perspective on war. What changed my mind and earned it four stars was the ending — not so much anything Tanaquil did, unickrn the major events of the plot, but the fact that in the perfect world, Tanaquil and the peeve corrupt everything. Books by Tanith Lee.

I love Tanith Lee and wanted to re-read this excellent book, which is why I bought this e-book version. Amazon Advertising Find, attract, and engage customers. While the main character and several side characters trudge along with all their strengths and weaknesses, the rest of them fall flat like movie standees. I was also amazed that it was labeled a kids book. What I loved most in this book was peeve! The book for the most part, to sum it up, comes off as a very terse, very aggravating read.
The book is short in size and content. Originally posted on SpecFic Junkie. She held true to what she felt was right – even when it hurt. I just could not put it down. But if you enjoyed the first book you will enjoy the second.
Black Unicorn isn’t a typical fantasy novel. And not just that on its own, but the way that Tanaquil reacts: It showed up quickly and tantih described. Remembering the powerful effect the black unicorn had on her people, Lizra has constructed a tremendous mechanical unicorn of gold as a symbol of her power.
Now in my thirties, it has changed again.
I enjoyed Black Unicorn, but each unicorn book since then has been slightly less enjoyable. A creative take on this mythical beast, Lee’s unicorn is hardly the gentle creature the reader expects. Vlack fast, free shipping with Amazon Prime.
If you have read my other reviews of this series I have suggested that you read the gold unicorn first and then the black unicorn, because that was what I did. Any good books about deserts?!
All the acrid, vicious, aggressiveness tantih her world and ours is made up for by those last parts of the book. Her career took off in with the acceptance by Daw Uniocrn USA of her adult fantasy epic The Birthgrave for publication as a mass-market paperback, and Lee has since maintained a prolific output in popular genre writing.
And while we had some of the same characters, there was just a very blck feel in this book, especially with the journey to the warring Other World.
As far as I’m concerned, it’s a perfect story. This was a bit of a disappointingly weak finish on the trilogy. There is something amazing that happens, but to avoid spoiling the book, I don’t want to say it.
