Brenda may seem terribly cruel for trying to salvage her career while Vicki struggles with both her cancer treatment and what it means to have cancer, but just as Vickis primary identity is a mother, Brendas primary identity is an academic.
In addition, the author continuously mentioned that Vicki had cancer numerous times, and I thought that it was a bit repetitious.
East Dane Designer Men’s Fashion. The second woman is Brenda Lyndon. It’s summer on Nantucket, and as the season begins, three women arrive at the hilserbrand airport, observed by Josh, a local boy, home from college. And we’re with them the whole way. My favorite character was Josh without a doubt; I adored that young man! Melanie was a huge whiner and I was not happy with the direction that her story went. By serendipity, they meet a few more times and Josh ends up becoming their nanny for the summer.
Lots of repeated tales of whoa made for lots of bareflot. I was looking for a summer read, braefoot I ended up with a depressing story of a women fighting lung cancer, a young college student having an affair with a pregnant married women whose husband was having an affair, a college professor fired and being sued by the college where she had been employed and all this on Nantucket Island.

Barefoot: A Novel: Elin Hilderbrand: : Books
The only time I’ve ever even heard of the island were those bottled juice drinks they sold at specialty high-level stores and breakfast places made by Nantucket This was a well written fluff novel. Unfortunately while this adds strength to Vickis plotline, it almost lampoons Brenda and Melanies, making what are hilderrband any other situation utterly valid issues seem trivial as a result.
She was aiming to go towards a slowly uncovering all the past, step by step, type of telling and barefopt I just felt bored out of my skull for the gist of the book. It is a bittersweet novel depicting the importance of family and friends when life hits a rough patch. Page 1 of 1 Start over Page 1 of 1. Nov 08, Jennefer rated it really liked it. This book was horrible.
All three women have some stories to tell and I was fascinated. I would not classify this as a beach read. I am still seething over the character depictions very controversial at times! And this is all just in the first chapter… Phew! The first woman is Victoria Lyndon Stowe. The story is about 3 women who disappear for the summer to Nantucket at a cottage near the beach.
Three women arrive on Nantucket for the summer.
Then we have Melanie, who is a sweet, gentle, caring, loving lady but has her own issues to deal with.
