Read it Forward Read it first. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Khemri is one of ten million princes. Taken from his princed as a child and equipped with biological and technological improvements, Khemri is now an enhanced human being, trained and prepared for the glory of becoming a Prince of the Empire.
As an adult reader, I could admire Nix’s smooth, wryly humorous narrative voice, and I loved the verve of the story, and the action sequences. Of course, he is still too young to realize those plans might not be to his liking. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. The world building, too, was just unique and incredibly easy to get into past the first page.
A Confusion of Princes
Nix introduces a fascinating world without going into too much tedious detail. But nic importantly, A Confusion of Princes is in fact a powerful story about self-discovery and finding your individuality.
The novel begins with Khemri’s coming of age. He’s congusion some of young adult speculative fiction’s greatest classics. The academy as a whole is caught unawares; but Khemri is doing extras drills due to his demerits with Mekbi Troopers – the principal and pseudo-autonomous ground forces of the Empire.
I have died three times, and three times been reborn, though I am not yet twenty in the old earth years by which it is still the fashion to measure time. Society is often telling you what to do, but what happens if we break away from the mould and work towards the life of our dreams?

What parents need to know Parents need to know that A Confusion of Princes is a far-future space adventure that also functions as a clever coming-of-age story.
That is, they really exist to live dashing but purposeless lives so that their exploits can be watched by the unglimpsed bazillions the empire rules.
There are passing references to smoking, drinking, and recreational drugs in some of the scenes featuring the princes, though Khemri doesn’t indulge. I get people bond after sharing near-death experiences but I still need more development before I can think about shipping them in a romantic way.

The Emperor must be replaced every twenty years because after that, the Emperor is no longer able to keep from being subsumed.

The Empire is partially commanded by some 10 million Princes. Khemri does not grow to be perfect- he is still selfish, in a way- but he chooses his own path and carves his own destiny.

That is a good book. As nkx novel progressed, he did improve slightly, for which I was grateful, but I still never found myself actually liking him.
